Armor Of God: Belt of Truth

For our struggle is not against [a]flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Ephesians 6:12 NASB

At our small group meetings Laura and I ( mainly Laura) have began to break down the pieces of armor of God to better understand our role as leaders, as Christians and as cosplayers.

So what is the purpose of the armor of God? Simply put, the Armor of God is to stand against the schemes of the devil and to protect us against spiritual things. Sometimes we are not just dealing with people, but you can be dealing with spirits that are on them. and it helps us to stand firm when all strength is gone.

The Belt of Truth situates everything about you in place. It holds everything important that you need to face the enemy ahead and it gives you a strong endurance. We believe that the Bible and Jesus is truth. When you know the truth/bible, you can discern what is true and false. If your belt is weak, it can trip you up ultimately leaving you exposed and vulnerable.

As Christians we know that the climate is not getting better in this world. If anything it is becoming a darker and darker place. Our purpose is to be a light in these dark places.

How to put on your Belt of Truth

Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist

Ephesians 6:14 NIV

  1. Begin with surrounding yourself daily with the word of God
  2. Seek a habit of getting into the bible and reading the scriptures.
  3. Do not skip over scriptures because they make you feel uncomfortable. If you skip them then you may not have total understanding on the issue it was speaking about.
  4. Always tell the truth and always know the truth.

The Belt of Truth is a foundational element of your armor. Without a strong belt, the other pieces of armor will not be as effective against the battles you are in.
